Government policy recognises the importance of rail freight


The latest Government transport and planning policies recognise the need to expand rail freight in order to reduce road congestion and pollution, reports Philippa Edmunds. A key part of this policy is the Rail Command paper, issued in March, which offers strong support for rail freight’s value in economic, environmental and safety terms.
